Holi Festival of Colors in Spanish Fork

I decided that this year I was going to create a new bucket list and start accomplishing the things I wanted to do in life. Maybe this is coming from the fact that I will be 30 in a few days.... but anyway for my birthday I decided to get tickets for Zack and I to attend. Warren was free so we thought why not make it a family affair. We were certain he would love it and have a great time. Oh boy were we right! Bringing Warren made the whole experience better. He was running around throwing chalk at complete strangers and starting chalk wars with them. He would throw chalk then come hide behind one of us when the other people started to chase him, then  run back to them and throw more chalk. He came out covered as shown below.

*Warning intense picture overload, I think I uploaded 25 pictures. It was that much fun!

Let the fun begin!

Zack was a great sport and let Warren and a complete stranger rub chalk on his head.

This is Warren less than 30 minutes after we got our chalk.

We made it for the first group throw of the day! YAY!

We also enjoyed watching from the hill above with some other families instead of taking Warren into the center of the big crowd.

Add Warren tried to rub his eye and this was the result a pirate with a green patch.

Photo courtesy of Warren who said, "Make a silly face."

Warren loved walking around the temple, on the balcony, throwing chalk at people.
Some noticed, some didn't.

He also enjoyed throwing it off the balcony onto people below.

And blowing it everywhere which resulted in....

a very purple mouth and one very elated little boy!

These two melt my heart. They were so much fun!

The end result, after playing in the sand for a while, we had ourselves an Oompa Loompa
We all had a great time and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Everyone we met was so happy and kind. We can't wait to do it again, even if my kiddo had a pink scalp for church Sunday-yes that was after his bath. The water was purple after I scrubbed his hair the first time. It took a few baths for him to turn from an Oompa Loompa back into my Warren.  It really was a great way to welcome spring and throw our woes and worries into the wind and start fresh. There are other festivals coming up and we may go to another later this summer but we loved, loved, loved the setting. It was beautiful against the Krishna Temple.
